Large-flowered beard-tongue is a striking plant that grows in dry, sandy or sandy-gravelly prairies. It is short-lived so space is needed in full sun for seedling establishment. Good in drought-tolerant mixtures with little bluestem, puccoon, pasque flower, star toadflax, and gray goldenrod.
